THE LEGO MOVIE Sequel Gets A Release Date

As inevitable as this sort of thing gets.

THE LEGO MOVIE Sequel Gets A Release Date

You don't need me or anyone else to tell you there's going to be a sequel to the hugely successful Lego Movie. Just living in this world equips you with enough data to put that together. The Lego Movie is one of those rare films that made lots of money and entertained nearly everyone. In every way possible, the world asked for more.

May 26, 2017, if it is still alive by then, the world will receive this grand gift. Warner Bros. has a release date and two writers, Jared Stern and Michelle Morgan, to get the script going. The Variety article this comes from also states that a ton of the voice actors from the original will return. I was kind of hoping it would be sort of an anthology thing, but I guess not.

This is of course harrowing news to the multitude of film critics everywhere who will have to come up with new Lego puns for their review headlines. It's going to be rough.
