Say it ain't so, ScarJo!

Dummies At Golden Globes Disqualify Scarlett Johansson’s HER Performance

Spike Jonze's Her is a beautiful, moving film about a man who falls in love with the artificial intelligence that runs his computer. It's not a comedy, and this relationship isn't played for laughs. In fact, the relationship between Joaquin Phoenix's Theodore and Samantha, voiced by Scarlett Johansson, is one of the best I've seen in movies ever. It's like an all-timer.

But the fact that Johansson is incredible as just a voice isn't enough for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the corrupt group behind the Golden Globes. They have ruled that ScarJo is ineligible for a Golden Globe nomination, despite the fact that the Academy has deemed her performance worthy of consideration. Why are the Golden Globes being such pains in the ass about this? Unclear, although it should be noted they didn't give Robin Williams a regular award for playing the Genie in Aladdin, they gave him a bullshit special award. So maybe they're really convinced you have to be onscreen to act?

By the way, the screeners for Her are pushing Scarlett as Supporting Actress - how is that possible? She's the co-lead of the picture. It's crazy to think that she's not. I guess it's all about positioning and the idea that Supporting is a more open field, but if we're being honest she is 100% the lead of this movie alongside Joaquin.
