In just over a minute, the director of HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN makes sure you don't go anywhere near the lake this weekend.
Who wants to see a one-minute short from the director of Hobo With a Shotgun that's guaranteed to keep you out of the lake this weekend? I knew you would. Here, look up there.
Wow. That was extremely effective (raise your hand if Jason Eisener owes you a new pair of pants)! It's the perfect length, features excellent audio design, offers a reasonably unique use of the "found footage" format and -- most importantly -- it exploits one of our most common fears (namely, that something dangerous could be stalking us underwater). To all of that, I say, "Bravo."
So, what's this thing for? Turns out this is one-fourth of The 3:07 AM Project, a quartet of shorts commissioned by the folks at VICE to help promote James Wan's recently-released haunted house flick, The Conjuring (the idea, I guess, is that each short takes place during the "Devil's Hour," the period wherein ghosts are said to be at the peak of their productivity). In addition to Eisener's, they've also got horror quickies from Max Landis, Fantastic Fest MVP Nacho Vigalondo and The House of The Devil's Ti West. Check out all four of 'em below...
...and then hit the comments section below to tell us what you thought. Ready to see Nacho and Landis sign up for their very own segments in V/H/S 3? Still trying to figure out if this little project really benefits The Conjuring? Did you guys like The Conjuring? Think you'll hit the lake this weekend? Where can I buy some new pants?
