Stop Everything. Stephen Chow’s JOURNEY TO THE WEST Has A Trailer
And what a crazy ass trailer it is.
There is a new Stephen Chow film coming out called Journey to the West. I'm pretty sure it is an adaption of the wacky Chinese novel, which in perfect Chinese fashion is one of THE FOUR MAJOR CLASSICAL NOVELS produced by that country. I guess we kind of do that with Shakespeare's supposed "big four," even though you could throw a dart at his work and land on a play better than Macbeth.
Anyway, this is about Stephen Chow's new film, which does not yet have an American release date, but does have this amazing English subtitled trailer. Stephen Chow doesn't act in the film, but you won't miss him after a good thirty seconds of this craziness. It's all Chow, baby.
Surely we'll be hearing more about this when it comes out in Asia. The trailer claims it will be released on Chinese New Year. That's February 10, which is oddly a Sunday. Chinese New Year, by the way, is the one week a year where all of Asia goes on vacation. It's insane.
