James Franco On THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: “Ehhh”

The star of the original SPIDER-MAN movies weighs in on the reboot.

I'm torn. On the one hand, I hate that MTV gets the most amazing access to filmmakers and actors and somehow the only things we see out of these interviews are horseshit questions about comic book movies and sequels. On the other hand, I love James Franco's reaction to The Amazing Spider-Man, only possible because MTV gets the most amazing access to filmmakers and actors and somehow the only things we see out of these interviews are horseshit questions about comic book movies and sequels.

Homunculus Josh Horowitz tells Franco that Dane DeHaan will be playing Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and proceeds to ask the actor if he's seen any of DeHaan's work. As Cronkite weeps in his grave, Franco does the usual back-patting, but it's when Horowitz asks if the actor has seen The Amazing Spider-Man that this little fluff torture gets good. Franco's response about the film's quality is first a long 'Ehhhhh' and then:

“I mean, they could have strayed a little bit more from the original. It was like, ‘Why?’ I guess they made a lot of money. Congrats. Good for them. Sam and I moved on. We made Oz.”

Yeah yeah yeah, I'm piling on The Amazing Spider-Man again. It's my site! I do what I want!
