Last year I posted a small pumpkin gallery including such gems as Bea Arthur and A.C. Slater, but I found so many rad jack o'lanterns and carved pumpkins this year I wanted to beef it up. It's Halloween! Let's ooh and ahh over some pumpkins that took way more work than we are ourselves willing to perform.
This cute father daughter duo carve a wealth of pop culture inspired pumpkins every year. From the Abbotsford Times:
So romantic! From the Abigail Design Studio:
DUDES. It's Fantastic Four's The Thing. He stands at 6'4 and is framed with chicken wire and lumber. From Food Beast:
Hamburger pumpkin, Imma eachoo. From GuideSpot:
This Vancouver programming nerd/genius made an interactive, working Tetris lantern! From Oregon Live:
Predator Pumpkin! From Sex in a Submarine:
Hogwarts gourd! Robot squash! Mogwai melon! From Geek Art Gallery:
These are all from World of Wonder, mostly showcasing a fully rad zombie pumpkin installation:
PJ Star featured the best pumpkins from a recent jack o'lantern festival. The Titanic one in particular is totally swoon-worthy:
These are all from Phrenopolis' pumpkin gallery. The Pumpkin Jury of Death is my favorite:
The following are all from Villafane Studios, whose glorious gourds we featured in last year's gallery. Too much majesty to enumerate. They're all incredible, but if I have to choose a favorite, I'd pick the old shruggy grouchy face down there:
This blog's amazing - all of the below jack o'lanterns are by this one fella, Smith the Pumpkin Carver, and he offers videos for the making of each one. There are tons more on his site; check him out. My favorite of these - and possibly of all time - has got to be the Kraken pumpkin, although Ron Swanson here's pretty groovy. Shit, or Maleficent the Dragon...:
From my brother-in-law Michael and his girlfriend Kelly:
And last but not least, your very own Film Crit Hulk made this bitchin' jack o'lantern of Jason doing some decapitating:
What's your favorite? And if you have a super rad one, show us in the comments!
