ALEX CROSS to Become Tyler Perry’s Legit Cinema Huckleberry

Cross your heart before crossing Alex Cross because when he gets cross you'll have to look both ways before crossing the street.

ALEX CROSS to Become Tyler Perry’s Legit Cinema Huckleberry

For reasons I don't want to go into right now because I'm suicidal as is, I have yet to see Tyler Perry's action star debut in Alex Cross. Hopefully, I'll rectify that tonight at midnight, but until then, I'm going just going to have to get by on knowing there may be more Tyler Perry Alex Cross movies coming my way.

Nikki Finke over at Deadline has an exclusive claiming that work is being done to turn James Patterson's novel, Double Cross, into a second outing for Tyler Perry. Finke also claims that while reviews of the film and its director Rob Cohen have been poor, most people appear to like Tyler Perry in the role. I have not heard that sentiment.

Regardless of Cohen or Perry, it's hard to imagine anything legitimately good coming from a Patterson novel. I'm trying to read my second Alex Cross book now, and it's like Twilight with guns.

The idea that Tyler Perry could become an international PG-13 action star with his own franchise just blows my mind. The fact that he's playing a black detective written by a white author just makes it even more Tyler Perry-appropriate. But I doubt this deal with Patterson will go through if Alex Cross fails miserably at the box office. So please, for me, go see Alex Cross this weekend. You can share in my perverse love for the filmmaker without all the family drama stuff and with a crazy looking Matthew Fox as well. Do it.

Weird wiener, though.
