The latest trailer for the first part of Peter Jackson's new trilogy shows off a different tone.
The Hobbit isn't The Lord of the Rings, and the latest trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, shows that Peter Jackson understands that. The tone of this trailer is just about perfect - light, sort of whimsical, fun, with darkness around the edges.
An interesting point: not only is there no mention of the film's limited release in the 48fps format, there's no mention of 3D at all either! That seems like an odd thing to leave out. I'm guessing that right now Warner Bros is operating on the 'Remember how much you love Lord of the Rings?' level right now, and they'll trot out the 3D for the TV commercials.
