Ralph Bakshi Is Back With A VERY Political Short
Prepare for outrage.
It wouldn't be a Ralph Bakshi cartoon if it didn't outrage people. The infamous animator has released a new short called Trickle Dickle Down, and it's likely to offend both liberals (the stupid ones, anyway) and conservatives (the ones who don't like being equated with the Nazis, anyway).
Says Bakshi:
"It's great to be back doing Bakshi Blues shorts with great beat full animation looking at this new America with some great old characters and some great new characters in all new stories. THERE IS NOWHERE FOR ANY ONE TO HIDE."
Caps are his.
The racial caricature in the short will be familiar to those familiar with Bakshi's work; I know we get some real kneejerk PC comments around here lately but before you squawk racism check out his film Coonskin, aka Bustin' Out aka Street Fight to understand how Bakshi is using stereotypes in a way that makes a point. He's doing it here as well, giving us his vision of how Mitt Romney and other voodoo economics ding dongs see the lower classes. And then he pulls out and gives us a look at what a Mitt Romney presidency might look like. And sound like. It ain't subtle.
