The famous music that plays beneath the 'Our Feature Presentation' card in GRINDHOUSE - in full!
If you're a certain age you grew up hearing a piece of Funky Fanfare every time you went to the movies. If you live in LA now and are cool, you hear it when you go to the New Beverly Cinema. If you have seen Grindhouse or Kill Bill, you've heard it at the beginning of those movies. But what you likely haven't heard is the entire song, which is actually a fully awesome track.
Funky Fanfare is a library track written by Keith Mansfield, a British composer who is famous for a number of sports-related TV tunes. But Funky Fanfare might be his greatest work; in the late 60s the National Screen Service - the company that, for forty years, was in charge of pre-show advertising and clips - used a bit of Funky Fanfare over the "Our Feature Presentation" card that ran after the commercials and trailers. You may have also heard the song sampled in hip hop; DangerDoom used it prominently, for example.
Here's the entire Funky Fanfare - prepare to have your day improved drastically.
