RED DAWN Trailer Better Than The Poster
Hey man, nice trailer.
I have a couple of problems with the trailer for Red Dawn - isn't having Hemsworth be a Marine sort of undercutting the wonderful YA fantasy of the original, where it's regular high school kids turned into guerilla partisans? - but I have to admit the thing works. The movie is directed by Dan Bradley, a great stunt coordinator (you'll recognize his work from the original Bourne films), so it's no surprise the action looks totally kick ass. And the trailer is well cut, making the movie seem exciting.
Here's what I truly want: a gloriously right wing fantasia, a Glenn Beck wet dream of a movie where Aryan kids destroy a foreign invader using their phallic, God-given weaponry. I don't want a lot of subtlety or nuance. I want a movie that would make John Milius proud. I want a movie that will send the blogosphere going fucking WILD with anger.
We'll probably get something fairly tame with good action sequences, and we'll be thankful for that much.
