Zombies and vampires are everywhere. People coming back from the dead is almost overdone at this point. We need something new to revitalize things, to give horror a kick in the pants.
Enter The Revenant. It's not technically 'new' - I reviewed it out of Fantastic Fest in 2009, before this site even started - but it's finally getting a release. Kerry Prior's movie finds Bart killed in action in Iraq but, upon returning home in a body bag, rising from the dead seeking fresh blood... while he slowly decomposes. The film is all over the place, going from buddy comedy to urban vigilante film to anti-war screed, but that's part of the charm. It's bursting with ideas in a time when most horror movies are just rehashing the same old shit.
We're proud to debut a collection of stills and the final theatrical poster for The Revenant. The movie opens in limited release and on VOD on August 24th. Definitely see it.
