Comic-Con 2012: WALKING DEAD Season 3 Trailer
The prison! The Governor! Merle!
This year at Comic-Con the big TV shows moved into Hall H and managed to pack the place to the rafters. Which is great for The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, but an enormous bummer for me because I couldn't get in to see the panels.
Thankfully a lot of this stuff pops up online right after, like this Walking Dead season 3 teaser trailer. Watching this outside of Hall H is a weird experience because this is a trailer that seems cut specifically for the big room - it is designed to have people yelling and cheering throughout, and the Merle reveal at the end is the epitome of crowd-popping moment at Comic-Con. As a result I think it plays a little strangely when just watching at home.
It seems like the show is splitting the cast and that the Governor and Woodbury is being brought in much earlier. It also seems like the scene of everybody running in the dark prison hallways is unintentional comedy.
The teaser promises one thing that will bring me back for the third season: a continued forward momentum. The show picked up at the end of season two; even if every character is still awful they quit standing around doing nothing. I hope the show keeps in the direction of 'stuff occurs.'
