Drew Goddard Now Ending WORLD WAR Z

The news on World War Z has been troubling for months. The adaptation of Max Brooks' zombie novel has hit major snags along the way, with the film going back for massive, multi-week reshoots. Paramount reached out to Damon Lindelof to rewrite the entire third act.

But now it turns out Lindelof is too busy to actually write the script. He's 'broken' the ending, but he has to pass the job off to someone else: Drew Goddard. Goddard's directorial debut, The Cabin in the Woods, is one of the best movies of the year, and he wrote on Lost with Lindelof for a while. He'll take Lindelof's ending and make it not staggeringly disappointing.

UNLESS! There's often an unless. It seems like Drew might also be too busy. In that case the script drops down to Christopher McQuarrie, who is in good at Paramount after writing and directing upcoming Tom Cruise vehicle Jack Reacher. the studio is big on this film, especially in light of the fact that they've moved almost every single other 2012 film out of the calendar year.
