Gaze upon a digital painting depicting the heroes and creatures of science fiction television, circa the 70s and 80s.

SciFi TV of The 70s & 80s: Gen X Nostalgia Bait

Looking at this digital painting by DeviantArt user ~dusty~abell, I'm struck by how much of my sensibilty was influenced by the weird, low budget world of science fiction TV from the 70s and 80s. Abell's panoramic image includes everybody from Doctor Who to the Man from Atlantis, from The Greatest American Hero to Cylons, from John Koenig to Wilma Deering. It also has a lot of the great space ships of the era, all heavily influenced by 2001: A Space Odyssey and Star Wars.

I'm impressed at how extraordinarily low-rent my childhood TV fantasy heroes were. I think there's something incredibly charming about that.

Can you name all the characters in the image? Click here for a bigger version.
