The mystery man's co-star sheds some little light on the superhero movie's tease.

Rhys Ifans Reveals Who That Guy At The End Of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Wasn’t

Spoilers for The Amazing Spider-Man follow.

Who is that guy in the jail cell with Curt Connors at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man? We've been talking about the mysterious scene here, and while there were a lot of guesses being tossed about in the comments, I pretty much assumed it was Norman Osborn. After all, he's the only character who makes sense in the context of the movie. But not so fast! Rhys Ifans talked to Ain't It Cool and told us who that guy isn't. He isn't Norman Osborn.

[A] representative from OsCorp appears miraculously in the room. How he gets in there and how he leaves, we don’t know. Maybe we will find out. But it’s not Norman Osborn... It is someone who is in the employ of Norman Osborn without question.

So we're back to square one. Or are we? The fact that this isn't  Osborn, ie the most obvious guy for it to be, leaves me with one answer: it's Richard Parker, Peter's dad. I think that's stupid and lame and requires Richard Parker to basically refer to himself in the third person... but it's the only thing that makes sense. There are a lot of dangling plot threads in The Amazing Spider-Man, one of which is the question of why the fuck we even remotely care about Peter's parents. If his dad is alive, and crazy/villainous, that gives us an answer. Any other character renders that scene dramatically pointless. Which, frankly, isn't against the aesthetic of the whole movie.
