This sounds like a joke, but it is a real thing.
This is incredible. In 1968 Bill Cosby released his ninth album, his second with songs. It's called Bill Cosby Sings Hooray For The Salvation Army Band!, and he was backed by the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band. The album features the Cos singing some goofy, sometimes parodic versions of popular songs of the day. The opening track is this semi-serious, absolutely mind-blowing version of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band; right after the first verse the Rhythm Band takes over and it sounds actually really nice, and then Cosby comes back shouting at the end again. It's fucking astonishing. I can't tell if this is good or bad.
