All of a sudden my enthusiasm about Drive, the Nicolas Winding Refn film starring Ryan Gosling as a getaway car driver, is feeling much more tempered. The first clip we saw was all style and menace, really great stuff. This one, where Gosling and Carey Mulligan have a meet-cute (with a little kid involved!) and then go driving along the LA River like the racers in Grease, is all… well, something else. It does have that signature Refn pop music, though. I guess this clip is supposed to be for the ladies or something. Fucking marketers.
New Clip From DRIVE Is Much Less Compelling Than The First Clip
It turns out Ryan Gosling doesn’t just do getaways in DRIVE - he also romances women and charms little kids. Oh well.
