You knew that someone would pick up Rian Johnson’s Looper, which stars Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and comes from the brilliant director of Brick and The Brothers Bloom. The question was who that would be, and that question was answered over the weekend at Cannes. FilmDistrict bought the film for US distribution, and they’ll be releasing it through Sony’s TriStar banner. If you’re an old film nerd like me this is exciting stuff - that classic TriStar logo was in front of many of my favorite 80s movies.
