A couple of years ago the talk was for Clooney to play The Lone Ranger against Johnny Depp as Tonto (in, duh, The Lone Ranger). The vision was sort of Green Hornet-y, with Tonto being the brains of the operation and The Ranger as the handsome, photogenic, dim face.
I guess that vision has changed, as The Wrap is reporting that Ryan Gosling, built like a scarecrow and with a general look that screams ‘junkie,’ is in talks for the Ranger role. Oh well.
The Lone Ranger is being directed by Gore Verbinski. I’m sure it’ll be quite expensive.
