SXFantastic Film KILL LIST Is First Movie Bought At SXSW 2011

Ben Wheatley’s Kill List premiered Saturday night at SXSW, and today it became the first film to be sold at the festival. IFC Midnight picked up the film, the second feature from Wheatley, whose first film Down Terrace was a huge hit at Fantastic Fest two years ago.

“Our team was blown away by Kill List,” Sundance Selects/IFC Films president Jonathan Sehring told the Hollywood Reporter. “It is a relentless, stylish, brilliantly directed journey into darkness that confirms Ben Wheatley as a major director. This is a film that is destined to be discussed for years and we are honored to begin the conversation with audiences across the country.”

If you’re at SXSW, the film screens again Thursday at midnight at the Alamo South Lamar. You can read my interview with Wheatley right here.
