I’ve heard good things about James Wan’s ghost movie Insidious, which is playing at SXSW. I do hope that the film doesn’t subscribe to the philosophy of its trailer, which is all about jump cuts and loud noises. That shit’s startling, not scary.
What is interesting in the trailer is the sheer volume of quick images - this seems to be the type of trailer tailor-made to be freeze framed and studied bit by bit. I, however, will wait to just see the movie in Austin next month.
